What are dental bridges?

If you are missing one or more teeth, Dr. Kirk E. Kooker, our talented dentist, may suggest a dental bridge. In Plano, Texas, dental bridges are custom-made dental appliances that attach replacement teeth to the adjacent natural teeth remaining in your smile. There are many types of dental bridges available at our dental office based on your individual needs. Dental bridges can be permanent, known as fixed bridges, or removable. They can also be made from a number of materials, including gold alloys, non-precious alloys, porcelain, or any combination of the three.

How are dental bridges attached?

It generally takes at least two visits to our dental office to create and attach your custom dental bridge. During your first appointment, we will prepare your smile to receive the dental bridge by gently removing a small portion of your tooth enamel and dentin on the teeth adjacent to the gap. Impressions and molds are then taken of your smile and sent to a dental laboratory, where your dental bridge will be constructed. Once back at our office, we will ensure everything fits properly before permanently cementing the dental bridge in place.

If you are considering dental bridges as your tooth replacement method, we encourage you to call our dental office for more information and to schedule your appointment. We look forward to working with you to restore your smile!
